Holding incredibly well in its second weekend dropping only 24.7% thanks to strong word of mouth similar to the second weekend drop of The Wolf of Wall Street of 23%.
Being such a brutal harsh experience is not the easy viewing popcorn movie making its performance even more impressive being not so accessible to audiences as The Wolf of Wall Street which had taken £10.86m after 10 days on release.
If it continues to hold as well in the coming weeks, could beat The Wolf of Wall Street’s £22.7m will be helped with the media coverage will likely receive when Leonardo DiCaprio finally wins his Best Actor Oscar.

It should easily beat the originals £4.14m but is likely to drop heavily in is second weekend as these films are normally very front loaded.
Been much craziness over the past week about Oscars being racist there is nothing new as they are also famous for being ageist and sexist too but media has listened this time because the voices are louder. Problem is every year there are dozens of worthy films but only 20 acting categories many deserving films will always loose out. Look at the 20 that were nominated do any of them not deserve it. Which is why what Ice Cube said on Friday’s Graham Norton show made more sense than anyone.

According to research The Force Awakens brought in $25.50 for every $1 spent on advertising Disney spent $29m but its many promotional partners probably more than tripled that ad spend with promotional partner adverts still playing on TV six weeks after opening.

After all the buzz has received over the last month with BAFTA and Oscar nominations and strong reviews would have expected a stronger opening.
Not being a straight comedy as Adam McKay previous can’t be compared with openings of his other recent films The Other Guys £1.98m in September 2010 or 2013’s Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues £4.53m opening.
But similar to the US its box office was squeezed between other releases with strong word of mouth it could hold well in the coming weeks the only problem is the sheer amount of films are being released in the next three weeks.
Word of mouth is strong so should hold well and perform strongly during the week.
5. Creed £1,213,027 – total £4,301,173
Dropping 45.3% in its second weekend much heavier than most would have expected after receiving great reviews and strong word of mouth but suffered the most with the opening of Ride Along 2.
