Space station commander Chris Hadfield a Canadian astronaut has been in the International Space Station for the past 5 months during that time he has embraced  social media constantly tweeting pictures from the space station he took.

He just handed over the command of the space station before he left he recorded a version of David Bowie’s Space Oddity a billion dollar music video possibly the first music video to be ever recorded in space.

While on the space station he has embraced social media and the technology people use to share his unique experiences doing science experiences answering questions from his 700,000 followers

It’s taken a long time to work out how social media and Twitter can be useful and that it could change things a lot of people wrote off social media as being pointless but then you read a story like this that pre-social media hundreds of people could never send questions to an astronaut

Chris Hadfield has introduced space to many that previously saw space as something you would see in the cinema Star Trek or Star Wars but by connecting to people via social media he has made it a real to many just like astronauts first did 40 years ago.
