For years I’ve been going on-line looking at various different blogs and wondering should I do a blog.
Never doing one because I doubt anyone would find it interesting. I’ve been Tweeting for several years now and have got an amazing 20 followers some of whom I have no idea who they are or how or why they are following me.
Social Media has exploded in recent years it’s amazing to think just over 5 years ago the first Tweet was sent and now billions of Tweets are sent daily.
Companies are waking up slowly to the power of Social media and the way it can impact positively and negatively to their companies. Analysing that data has become vital to companies as it allows them to get much closer to their clients and customers. And the clients and customers feel like they are more than just a number so are likely to come back for more.
In recent weeks we have seen the two sides of social media surrounding the Boston bombings first the positive with how the news broke and people were able to interact but then the negative with people being identified wrongly as possible terrorists.
A similar thing happened with the hacking of AP Twitter account it only took seconds of a Tweet about an explosion in the White House to cause Wall Street to lose billions of dollars.
Social Media if careful used it could do amazing things for companies and in the way customers interact with them.
Twitter Terrorism is something I could see happening with people hacking into news accounts spreading incorrect information as seen by the hacking of AP it only takes seconds and you could cause companies shares to crash and then rise and someone could make a fortune from it. I don’t know if this is science fiction and could really happen?
