For over 20 years or more I have been very passionate about movies very interested in the distribution rather than creative film making.

Having worked for a couple of major UK distributors over the years have had first had experience of the way they operate and run which has given me I believe a good understanding and knowledge. But feel like I have all this knowledge I have built up over the years but nowhere to express or use that always looking at the way studios date their films and wonder why they would purposely wreck their films as they never have a chance.

On here I can express my views and thoughts doubt anyone is out there and reading any of this but still.

That picture reminds me of when I was working for Rank Film Distributors Archive. They have film storage vaults at Elstree and Pinewood Studios where they would store their nitrate pre-print material. Pre 1952 films were made on this format and nitrate film was very flammable and over the years of being stored in vaults it would if not stored correctly break up to little more than dust.

Rank were at that time were making dupe copies of that pre=print material and then once done we would donate that Nitrate material to the National Film archive for them to preserve. But some of the Nitrate film had decayed too much and had turned to dust.

On several occasions we would have to destroy this material as it was unsafe to be stored anymore as it was very flammable. Was a bonfire in the middle of Pinewood Studios. One of those took place months after Pinewood Studios had been turned into Gotham City for the 1989 Batman movie.
