There are many questions about the films that will be released this summer.

Films like Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steel & Monsters University are certain to bring in big audiences.

In the UK Universal have recently brought forward the release of The World’s End and with its recently released teaser they are onto a winner with it.

Alan Partridge is finally coming to the big screen in Alpha Papa if the film is anything as funny as the teaser it will be a big success this summer.

But there are many at present unanswerable questions about many other films that we will see this summer.

Starting with World War Z and The Lone Ranger two films that have both suffered with production problems and delays and most Box office experts are expecting to be the two biggest losers of the summer.

There are also big questions surrounding After Earth. On paper it’s a home banker Will Smith Sci-Fi movie starring alongside his son.  But after M. Night Shyamalan’s success of The Sixth Sense, Signs and Unbreakable his last was The Last Airbender which was a massive failure. Also last month Tom Cruise starred in Oblivion which looks like a very similar film and the trailers haven’t really blown people away.

Another question is will the sequels to Despicable Me and Monsters Inc. be a match for their originals. There are rumours than Monsters University is even better than Monsters Inc but with the strange news than Al Pacino was recently replaced for Benjamin Bratt as the baddie in Despicable Me 2 again questions will be asked can it be better than the fantastic first movie?

The trailers for The Intern and This Is the End were very funny which both are likely to attract audiences after a very action focused start of summer.

The trailers for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim have looked incredible but it is another film that the studio decided to retrofit into 3D hopefully it will still look incredible.

One big question I have is This Is Us the One Direction Concert Movie.  There is massive hype and media attention for the group and this film with the teaser trailer being one of the most watched trailers of the year. Sony recently released a mosaic poster for the film that featured pictures of their fans. The full trailer which will be released soon again will attract huge audiences and the film will likely get a huge Leicester Square premiere on the scale of a Harry Potter premiere with 1,000s of screaming fans desperate to see their idols.

The hype and media attention that these films rarely get bums on seats. In recent years massive hype has surrounded concert movies from the likes of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry & Glee but they have all underperformed at the box office. They are much bigger success on DVD.

The film is opening up the week before the winter term begins which is a strange date as you would have thought that Sony would have wanted it to play for longer in the summer holidays?

The last concert documentary that opened successful was Michael Jackson’s The Is It in 2009 opening with £4.9m I would expect that Sony would want it to open to that kind of level if not bigger.
